FISHING DAY TOUR PICNIC:-

The fishing picnic trip includes taking a boat and spending the day on an uninhabited island. Lakshadweep has a large number of uninhabited islands ranging in size from small to large. We will
depart from the main island after breakfast, packing our lunch, or for the chef in you guest we would most welcome to cook the meal or we can get a native chef to help you in needs, we can have our lunch prepared on the picnic island. On the way we shall be stopping at various fishing spots for the days catch for the barbeque. We can have fresh fish barbequed on the picnic island .Rest of the Time Island is all yours to explore and for the fish heads who wants to fish more the whole ocean is out there.

After having a quick evening snack we shall return back to the main island before sunset. We are full open to modify this package according to the guest’s needs and activities.

LOCAL/NATIVE FISHING TRIP:-

The sea around Lakshadweep is rich in fishery resources and the main fishery resource in the islands are Tuna. The estimated marine fishery potential resources in the sea around Lakshadweep is about one lack tones of tuna and tuna like fishes . A huge part of the population in Lakshadweep depends on the fishery resources which is also the main livelihood of the inhabitants of the islands.

About 80% of the total landing of Lakshadweep contributes Skip Jack tuna and 60% of the total landing is converted to dried products and about 40% goes for local consumption.

Pole and line is a fishing method used to catch tuna and other large pelagic (midwater) species one fish at a time. When a school of target fish is located, water is sprayed from the back of the fishing vessel and small bait fish (e.g. sardines) are scattered onto the surface of the water, creating the illusion of an active school of prey fish.

This process, known as chumming, sends the target fish into a feeding frenzy during which they will bite anything they see. Fishers line up along the back of the boat each with a hand-held wooden or fiberglass pole with a short line and barbless hook attached. Once a fish is hooked it is flicked up and over the head of the fisher and onto the deck.
